Harris Regional Hospital's Birthing Center provides a full range of maternity services, from natural childbirth to high-risk obstetrics. The Center combines a family oriented facility with a staff dedicated to meeting your needs as we serve you and your entire family.

Labor and Delivery Unit
The Labor and Delivery Unit has four Labor / Delivery / Recovery (LDR) suites equipped with state of the art technology, to provide single-room service for labor, delivery and initial recovery birthing rooms.
These LDR suites feature a remote-controlled TV, a recliner to accomindate the needs of a family member of friend, a special birthing bed, and a large bathroom. Two of these suites are equipped with Water Birthing Tubs.
During labor and delivery, mothers are able to choose between several pain control methods, including epidurals.
Mother and Baby Care Unit
After the baby is born, new moms and their infants receive quality follow-up care in our Mother and Baby Care Unit, where one nurse cares for mother and child.
The Unit offers nine post partum suites where mothers "room in" with their newborns virtually 24 hours a day. Respite Care is offered to moms when possible.
Each suite is equipped with a remote-controlled TV, a pull-out sofa for Dad and a private bath.
Our staff is on-hand to care for you and your baby and to provide teaching and support during your stay.
Special security procedures are maintained for your protection and to ensure the safety and security of mother and baby during your stay with us.
Birth Announcements
Newborn births are announced only with your permission to local newspapers in the town of your current residence, to the Asheville Citizen Times and to local radio stations.
Births are announced at the discretion of and on the dates chosen by each newspaper, and radio station.
Baby Photos
Newborn photos are taken and will be made available for parents to purchase through First Foto, a service of Growing Family. Photo negatives are kept on file with First Foto for one year.
We offer packages for parents wishing to order photos. If you have a question about photos that you have ordered from First Foto, please call 1-800-433-0855.
If you elect to announce your baby's birth to the local media, a copy of your baby's photo will also be sent to the newspaper, nearest your hometown, for publication.
Photos are published every other month for the prior two months: for example, photos of babies born in November and December will be published at the end of January, and photos of babies born in January and February will be published at the end of March, etc.
