Employee Recognition/Celebration...

WestCare values our employees by recognizing expected behavior as well as service to the organization. Three recognition programs are currently in place. They are:

"On The Spot" Program:

This is WestCare's instant recognition program. It's a program for simple and/or everyday acts of kindness, something we all take for granted. For example, if John Smith helped Sally Jones carry a heavy load of books, Sally would fill out a card nominating John for "ON THE SPOT" recognition, give it to John or John's supervisor, who then turns it in to Human Resources. Once a month at WestCare's New Employee Orientation, a drawing is held. Three randomly chosen winners and the employees who nominated them receive a gift. An example gift is a $15.00 gift certificates to Wal-Mart or to our local food market.

"Above and Beyond the Call of Duty" (ABCD) Program:

Our second recognition program recognizes employees for Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD). This program is in nomination form, which recognizes four basic values: integrity, innovation, compassion, and excellence. Monthly, nominations are submitted by co-workers, patients, visitors, vendors, etc. All nominations are compiled together, sent to the previous month's nominated employees, and each of those employees choose their "top four" nominations. The choices are submitted to Human Resources who tally the votes and prepare for the reception. Voting is based on the specific deed. The employees' name is not on the voting ballot, therefore, each vote is based on deed, not persona. There are four monthly winners: one employee of the month and three honorable mentions. At an ABCD reception, WestCare's President/CEO presents each nominee an ABCD certificate (copy goes into employee's personnel file) and a beautiful pen. The winners also receive gifts such as Wal-Mart gift certificates, parking space close to the facility for one month, free meals in the cafeteria, a special brass key ring, etc. In addition, the employee of the month receives a fleece jacket monogrammed with the WestCare logo and "ABCD Employee of the Month." Our employees feel special with this particular program and are honored to receive this award.

"Service Award" Program:

Our third program is recognizing employment service to WestCare. At five-year increments, employees receive a service award (chosen by the employee) at a quarterly luncheon held in their honor. They may choose a beautiful gift from a very large selection (about 30-40 items) or choose a monetary gift in conjunction with their years of service. We have a lovely luncheon reception every quarter to honor our celebrating employees along side their managers who always have to "brag" about their respective employees' performance and personality. We always have an excellent meal and fellowship!
